denton good times. :)

Hey, hi, hello.

I went to a show on Wednesday. I saw some local bands, Two Knights and Special Guest. And some touring bands, Football etc, Tiny Moving Parts, and Modern Baseball.

Truthfully I was super stoked for Modern Baseball. Beyond stoked honestly. The photo above is pretty much the only actual "photo" I took and it was during Modern Baseball. This is one of my very old point and shoot cameras, so the quality isn't great. Oh well.

Afterwards I was at the merch table and I got to meet two of the guys from Modern Baseball! :) It was amazing. I love shows like this.

Here is a video of the night I made on that shitty point and shoot camera. I hope ya'll enjoy it. The song playing is a Modern Baseball song, so if yall haven't heard them, I hope you enjoy it as well.

ALSO, by the way, I may start making video two days a week now, because I was recently contacted by YouTube on being a partner. I'm still talking to them and somewhat to my parents as well. I'll keep ya'll updated on that. :) Let me know if you like my videos and stuff.

Snippets Sunday #12

Hey ya'll! Happy Sunday. Today has been super chill.. like I mentioned a few posts back I'm on summer vacation right now, and it's so great. Haha. Which also means I have gotten really caught up on posts and what's going on with my blog. So, I feel awesome about that. I went to a house show last night, and took a few photos to use for when I decide to make a House Show Etiquette post for the concert mini series.

Other than all that! Today went a little like this:

I dyed the under part of my little sister's hair dark brown.
I watched The Craft for like the third time in a row, haha. You know how when you put something in your DVD player, and you just never take it out cos you're too lazy, so you just keep watching it? That's what's going on with me right now. Haha
this gif is from tumblr, I have no idea who made it. Sorry!
ALSO, I cleaned my room a week or two ago, and so today I worked on trying to film a Room Tour finally. So, hopefully I'll finish that up and have it post sometime this week. (:
And, here's what I looked like today. :) The green dress is from Target, and the jean vest was thrifted a year or two ago.

I hope ya'll are having an amazing weekend and a relaxing Sunday! (:

Snippets Sunday #9

Hey ya'll. Happy Sunday. :) This is super late because of how crazy my Friday and Saturday were, haha. So, here's a story:

Friday night: Erik and Ali called me telling me about a house show in Denton. Honestly the first thing I thought of was Dave's. But then I get the invite on Facebook and it's totally definitely not there, so I am skeptical as hell about it. Anyhow, they tell me they're already on their way, so I should call Torry because he hadn't left yet. I call Torry, he's stoked to have someone make the drive with him. He picks me up around 10, and his band The Nitch Pickens were on the set list to play around 11pm or 11:30pm. Denton is like a 30 minute drive, depending on traffic. The problem we had was that Torry and I are BOTH THE WORST WITH DIRECTIONS. So, we take the wrong exit because Torry is gungho set on the fact that it must be a different exit since it's not at Dave's house. He calls a few people once we've drifted through like five neighborhoods not resembling the makings of a house show in sight. No one can give him decent directions until one person mentions it's the same exit you take for Dave's. Sooooo, long "we're lost" story short, we get back on the highway, take the right exit. We're literally a block away, it is 11 on the dot pm, when I get a phone call from Ali. I answer and she says, "wherever you are, don't come to the house yet, it just got busted by the police." I tell Torry, we make a right, park the car, and Torry gets on the phone with Chris (the host). Torry basically just gives him advice on how to handle the cop, and literally five minutes later the cop was gone. Only issue was, no more music. So, the Nitch Pickens and Cat People and another band I can't remember the name of, all didn't get to play the show. It was bummer. But, we went for food, and talked a lot. Torry dropped me off at my place around 5AM.

Saturday night: Granted I was still sleepy from the previous night, I woke up around 1 in the afternoon. Erik got to my house at about 6pm to pick me up because we were on schedule to work the 420 show at 1919. We walked around the Fort Worth Arts Festival for a little while waiting for Stephen to get off work. Then finally made it over to 1919. Fiending Flesh, Mountains of Smoke, Collick, Bitch Teeth, Spacebeach, & Elesh Norn, all played. It was a really good show. I had a pretty bad headache by the end though. Then there was an after party at pizzahaus next door. It was a hip hop show. DarkCloud went on first, which I'm really glad Torry gave that kid the opportunity. He flows so fucking clean, I swear. Then there was supposed to be some other artists, but we ended up having to cut the night short just cos residents and tech difficulties. But anyhow, last people to go on were Black Problems. And damn, when I say they tore it up, they seriously tore that shit up. It was amazing. I love those guys. Anyhow, I got home around 5:45AM. And I slept all of my Sunday away, haha.

I think I've posted this before, but I made a music video for Black Problems. But, here's the link if you missed it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FiUi4zaNx6g

A Halloween-y post. :)

Here are all of my pumpkins. :)

This is my little sister. She was a zombie. I did her makeup.

The wounds on her face were made with some diy face latex type stuff.
All you need is elmer's glue and a foundation that's a little lighter than you. Mix them together in a bowl, and wa-la! you have fake skin. :) I think it turned out pretty great.

Friday Favorites. :)

These gorgeous vintage phones. It makes me wish I still had a landline. [photo cred]

Probably one of the wayyyy better "ombre" nails tutorials I've found.

These Steve Madden flats.. Ugh.. I want them.

Her hair color. (: I've been a brunette all of four days and I already miss my red hair so bad.

I love this eye look. Check her other looks out at http://beautyybox.tumblr.com

I found this on Tumblr and I thought it was a really cute idea.
I got this little plate type thing of Apollo at Goodwill, and plan to use it during my Philosophy presentation. I actually really like it, and plan to hang it in my room when I'm done with it. It's one a brown leather cord, and is extremely heavy.

I have a Thrifted Thursday post that will be up probably tomorrow, this whole construction thing and then going to the State Fair really messed with my posting schedule and stuff. Anyhow, I got some neat stuff, so be ready for that. :)

Snippets Sunday.

Today I've been working on my altered book project and cleaning up my terrariums.

Studying for philosophy.

ALSO, the really cute cloud pen I'm using was a present from my brother while he was living in Korea.

It's awesome. I still have all the packaging it came in because I loved seeing it all written in Korean.

I really am enjoying my philosophy class. I do wish the text was as interesting as the professor, but it's sadly not.

I got this "Alien Ooze" crap as like an impulse buy at the register at Target.

Feels like a liquid, but isn't wet.

It was 50 cents, and I do not regret it. Haha. It is entertaining. ;p

Snack time and Matilda time. :)

It's been a good Sunday.

Tomorrow I'll be going shopping with my friend Sierra and her boyfriend Shelby. I am on the search for a dress for my birthday on Friday.

I hope everyone else is having a really great Sunday as well!

ALSO, Snack Well's are awesome. :)

Glowsticks, Scissors, Failed DIY, and BFFFLAD.

This is a stop motion I made of events yesterday. The camera I use is a Sony Alpha 200. And the song I used is, The World Spins Madly On by The Weepies.

My bestfriend is Jasmine. We like to get all DIY up in here all the time. Yesterday we made a Target run after sweating at a park and getting ridiculously hungry.

While we were looking around the dollar section of Target, Jasmine said, lets get glow sticks and bubbles. She pulled up a DIY blog on her phone and showed me "glow stick bubbles." I was so IN. The blogger said all you needed to do was empty glow sticks into a container of bubbles, and blow. It sounded simple, so we went for it.

We purchased these things, some food, ate, then went on our merry way to one of the various parks in our town. When we got there we noticed a truck was there. At first we were hesitant to stay since it was dark, but the park was well lit and the driver of said truck was nowhere to be found. So, we hauled our stuff to the merry go round and began working on these glowing bubbles. First thing we noticed was, we did not purchase scissors. Good job us, right?

Jasmine went to her truck to try to find something when a man in swim trunks comes walking up to her. He says he's really thirsty and out of water, so she offers him a juice box. He takes it, and gets in his truck. She heads back over having not found anything resembling scissors or a knife and we continue trying to open these glow sticks. This man approaches us, asking our ages, names, why we're out there so late. It was literally uncomfortable. When we get up to start leaving he asks why, so we mention we don't have any scissors. He claims to have three pairs in his truck if we wanted to come get them. We said no, and proceeded through the parking lot to our vehicle. Creepy.

To be fair though, he did have three pairs of scissors, and he gave us two pairs as we were pulling out of the parking lot. Which we both found pretty strange. Jasmine bolted out of there not wanting him to follow us. We proceeded to a different park across town and set up camp again. This time with the strange man's scissors it was easy to open the glow sticks. First thing we found out though, cutting open a glow stick is like projectile vomit. The second thing we found out was that it just didn't work. Maybe it was because the glow sticks were cheap or we didn't have enough, but it just did not work. It was depressing. Jasmine was totally disappointed because she had had this DIY bookmarked for awhile on her phone and really wanted to do it.

Let down and feeling like failures, I notice there are some glow sticks left in the tube. So, I tell her about the light photography. She's seen my photos of it before, but we had never done it together. I included these photos at the end of this stop motion. I think it made up for the fact that our glow-y bubbles were a failure.
