Snippets Sunday #14

Hey yall. :)

First thing I'd like to say is, HAPPY FATHERS DAY to my awesome, amazing, wonderful, dad, Tom.
I love you.

Last night I went to a ska show at the venue I work at. It was pretty kickass, truthfully. These are the bands that played, ya'll should totally check them out cos they're all local to the DFW:

The Buzzkills (this was the only punk band on the show, they're friends of mine, and have really grown as musicians in the past couple months. I'm super proud, so check out their stuff, pls.)
https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Buzzkills/185871108225620?fref=ts

I'm Clark Kent.

I'm Clark Kent

(totally a ska band, if you couldn't tell by the name, haha. I met their drummer Nick awhile back.. he was just this goofy kid who always came out to the Not Half Bad shows.

Finally one day I sat down and really talked to him and found out he was in a ska band and they hadn't played a ton of shows..so I was stoked when they got on this show. Unfortunately they don't have a Facebook.. whenever they do I'll definitely let ya'll know. They're all 16-17 year olds from Aledo, TX.. and they're adorable.. I'll insert a photo. ALSO, last night they covered a Brand New song and it was awesome.)

The Wife and Kids. (these fuckers are something else.. seriously. I'm not a huge listener of ska music, truthfully. Not for any bad reasoning or anything, just for the simple fact that I haven't listened to a lot of ska music. But, I actually dug these guys, even though they were dorky and cheesy.. it was still pretty cool. Sooo, check em outttt.)

Snippets Sunday #12

Hey ya'll! Happy Sunday. Today has been super chill.. like I mentioned a few posts back I'm on summer vacation right now, and it's so great. Haha. Which also means I have gotten really caught up on posts and what's going on with my blog. So, I feel awesome about that. I went to a house show last night, and took a few photos to use for when I decide to make a House Show Etiquette post for the concert mini series.

Other than all that! Today went a little like this:

I dyed the under part of my little sister's hair dark brown.
I watched The Craft for like the third time in a row, haha. You know how when you put something in your DVD player, and you just never take it out cos you're too lazy, so you just keep watching it? That's what's going on with me right now. Haha
this gif is from tumblr, I have no idea who made it. Sorry!
ALSO, I cleaned my room a week or two ago, and so today I worked on trying to film a Room Tour finally. So, hopefully I'll finish that up and have it post sometime this week. (:
And, here's what I looked like today. :) The green dress is from Target, and the jean vest was thrifted a year or two ago.

I hope ya'll are having an amazing weekend and a relaxing Sunday! (:

FRIDAY FAVORITE #3 (CONCERT SERIES #1)

Hey ya'll. This isn't going to be a traditional "Friday Favorites," but since my Friday was amazing I thought I'd share it with ya'll.

I go to a shit storm amount of shows, being that I also volunteer at a venue, so I thought it'd be kind of cool to do a small mini-series of do's and don'ts about concerts/shows. Yesterday, Friday, I went to a festival, which is completely different than just a venue show. A festival typically has 4 - 6 stages. This one had 5, I believe, though I only frequented 2 of them myself.

My Dad's work gave our family free tickets to the Wildflower Festival, which is near Plano, TX. We decided to go Friday as a Mother's Day present for my Mom because her favorite singer was going to be there: Uncle Kracker.

Some tips I have when you're going to a FESTIVAL are:

1. Depending on where you live, dress accordingly.. like in Texas it was 100+ degrees, so I wore a light circle skirt, with a deep v loose shirt tucked into it, and my jean vest (for extra pockets). I also took one of my lighter crossbody bags. Even though I dressed light it was STILL super hot. So, take the weather into account before you just go onto the fest.

2. Check online for restrictions, such as at this fest you couldn't bring DSLR cameras, or any kind of camera with an attachable lens. You also couldn't bring outside food in, which is a general consensus for all festivals I've been to. And you could only bring up to a liter of water in with your group. They post this stuff for a reason, so be prepared for what you can and cannot bring as best you can.

3. This is probably the best tip, be nice to the people at the gate who take your tickets. Seriously. Be nice to anyone you see in a staff shirt. They're all there dealing with drunk people for probably 3+ days. Don't be a jerk.

4. GET A MAP. Every festival I've ever been to has had at the front people passing out maps, don't just pass it up. Take one! You'll need it! Actually, at a lot of festivals there's a lot of booths and people trying to sell things, but if they hand you something for free, take it. A lot of that stuff comes in handy. At the one last night there was a State Farm booth handing out paper fans... and damn, did I sure need that later.

Okay, I hope you enjoyed this post! I'm going to work on how I want to break up this concert series, but I think I'll do tips for venue shows, bar shows, and house shows. Then maybe some getting ready for shows posts with fotd & ootd.

Snippets Sunday #8

Hey ya'll. Today was a really chill Sunday, honestly. I've decided to remodel my room, so I started on that this morning. My parents went to Thrift Town, and my Mother picked me up some coupons and the unicorn book in the first photo. :)

I've been stressed out with school that I never fully unpacked from the pca/aca. So I finally did that today. I love the canvas totes they gave us. They're super nifty and durable.

I had a crap ton of biology studying to do and it was hard to focus. But, I know it's worth it, in the end. My parents rented two movies, so I took a hefty break to watch those with them. We watched Hitchcock and Life of Pi.

I finished my Sunday drinking a mug of tea with my Mother and eating some apples with homemade dip, compliments to the chef! (Thanx Mommy! xx)

I'm currently doing last minute work on an essay I thought was due next week, but is actually due tomorrow night. Soooo, awesome. I'm hoping to finish it up for the most part tonight so that I can do an organization post tomorrow or something like that.. if not, I have a hit or shit product review in the queue.

I hope ya'll had an amazing Sunday!

an update full of I'm Sorry's.

HEYHEYHEY.

I'm just going to be honest, I've gotten a lot of messages from people via tumblr and from here about where I've been.. and the truth is this was the hardest semester of college I've ever had to go through.

A lot of you who have been following me here or Tumblr know that my Grandma lives with me and she's been sick for a few years. This semester we had to put her in a nursing home, and it really took a toll on my household, and my schoolwork. I was playing catch-up constantly for months. And then finally I got some good news about my scholar work I've done on rape culture. I was asked to be a speaker in Washington DC two weeks ago. The week before I went though, there was a death in my life. One of my best friends, mentor, and ex teacher, passed away at a young age and very suddenly. I went to his funeral that Sunday, then Tuesday I left for DC. It was bittersweet, honestly.

I've also been playing a lot of shows and working on stuff for an album.

I've been stressed with this biology class I'm currently in, and the fact that I also need to find a job. It's just been a very dang stressful semester. It's almost over though, and I'm not taking summer classes, so, hayyyyy. ;p

I just want to thank everyone who has continued following this blog from the bottom of my heart. There will be new content coming ya'll's way. I've queued some beauty reviews, and some thrifting posts, already. And once this month is over, and finals week is over, I will get back into a regular swing again, I pinky promise.

Here's a stop motion video I made of my travels in Washington, DC, I hope ya'll enjoy it:

Snippets Sunday #6

This week has been stressful because of the preparations for finals week and trying to get back in the groove of blogging regularly again. It's crazy around these parts of Texas also with the weather and such!

But, yesterday we had my little sister's 12th birthday party. (just the party, her actual birth date is the 18th of this month.)

So, I made this stop motion:

And here's a face of that day & my nail "art":

I hope ya'll that have finals do AMAZING on them and don't stress too dang much.

This Christmas break is muchhhh needed. :)

Happy Sunday everyone!
